Engaged!

Adam proposed February 28th at the end of a quiet dinner at my favorite restaurant, Blue Marlin, in the Vista area of Columbia.  We went out that night for a late Valentine's Day celebration (Adam had to work on Valentine's Day and most of the following days...Drill Sergeant duty is very demanding!) Just after we were seated, Adam brought up his friends who are getting married this fall. We spent the entire evening talking about their upcoming wedding. Adam kept asking me questions about my opinions on everything from the length of their engagement to a destination wedding. Looking back, I should have known what was about to happen, but at the time I just wasn't thinking about it.

After dinner, he said "Well, it wouldn't be Valentine's Day without a gift" and pulled out a green velvet box. To be honest, I thought it would be earrings...the box was wide and flat instead of tall like a typical ring box. As I was opening the box, Adam got down on one knee beside the booth and asked me to marry him.  I certainly wasn't shocked that he asked, but I had no idea it would happen that night!

Adam and I went to the Botanical Garden at Riverbanks for our Engagement Pics. The garden is a special place for us. Between Adam's love of photography and my Scrapbooking habit, the gardens and zoo provide lots of inspiration. It will always remind us of the time in our relationship when we were first falling in love. Adam took most of the photos himself, with the help of a self timer and tripod. The rest were taken by Adam's dad when his parents came into town recently. CLICK HERE for the photo gallery!
